If you could be anything right now, what would you be?
If I could be anything, I would be Nothing. It’s something abstract, but I wouldn’t be something that is already defined.
We can only imagine what “nothing” is, but it could be everything. I would love to be empty, and let the others to define me, to fill me with everything they want, with everything they imagine. A “nothing” that is “everything”.
Which book are you reading?
I have just read And Our Faces, My Heart, Brief as Photos, written by John Berger. Those were the opening words of a mail Berger sent to his lover. Then he decided to share those mail in a book.
Now I’m reading Seta by Alessandro Baricco.
Which photographer is teaching you something?
There isn’t a photographer I prefer. There are a group of photographers that inspired me in different moments of my production: Francesca Woodman inspired the first period of my work. I really love Matthew Stone’s works. I’m currently exploring Jeff Wall’s works.
I think every photographers have something to say and a way to do it. I believe it is really exciting to explore more photographers I can.
Are you working on a particular project right now? Can you tell us something about it?
I am not working on a specific project right now . I have many ideas, something about different points of view on a same thing.
At the moment I’m woking on my thesis since I’m finishing my studies at the Fine Arts Academy of Catania (Sicily).
On your website we can see a lot of self-portraits, reading your words to describe your projects. What inspires you?
My aim is not realise so many selfportraits. I only “use” myself like a male model. I do it because I always know how I should appear in a photo.
Using me like a model gives me the opportunity to explore deeply myself and to express faithfully what I would like to comunicate.
I always tell a story, many of those stories are mine.
I’ve particularly loved “Something about […]. White edition. Series”: can you tell us something more about it?
Often you feel the need to tell stories about yourself, tell your day. I’ve felt the need to tell something about me .
“ Something about … ” begin as a short story, a seven-pages diary for seven days. A white sheet and something that novelises my day, not with the purpose to chronicle my day, but to express a thought , a memory, an experience.
