MANUELE ALTIERI
Where are you from? Where do you live?
I’m from Eboli, a small town in the province of Salerno,
Known by those who read Primo Levi’s book called “Christ Stopped at Eboli”.
I spent a couple of years in Perugia, where I studied.
How old are you?
I am 22 years old. But I would always have 5 years.
How do you pay your bills? Are you working as a professional photographer?
Sometimes it is difficult to pay them. No, I’m not a professional photographer.
I recently opened a graphic and visual communication studio with two girls called Medusablu.
What cameras do you use?
I prefer analogic cameras. I mostly use Olympus XA, Canonet GIII QL17, Ricoh 35 EE and others. I use a canon eos 450d for digital works.
As they say: love analog tolerated pixels.
Any photographer or artist inspiring you?
I especially like Daido Moriyama. Then, ok, Henri Cartier-Bresson, but I think it is a little bit for everyone.
What/who do you enjoy to shoot the most?
I like being around people. Hidden from them.
I like to shoot everyday things.
I do not like preparing photographs, but shoot reality.
Do you believe in god?
I believe in something. I do not know what he does.
What do you drink on a night out?
Usually vodka lemon or beer.
Do you like dancing?
Not particularly. Maybe when I’m alone in the house.
What’s your favourite first name?
Alice.
Are you a fashion addicted?
No. But I like to go shopping.
What’s your favourite tv series?
Uhm, recently… it’s Fringe.
Recommend us a book.
My favorite book is: The Death of Ivan Ilyich – Lev Tolstoy.
But another book that I really like is Be My Knife – David Grossman.
What’s the country of your dreams?
I do not have a true land of dreams. I love the cool places. The important thing is to travel as much as possible.
Have you ever been to Iceland?
No, but I’d like to go. Heima by Sigur Ros has always fascinated me.
What song would you choose for a slideshow of your work?
Choose Twenty Four Hours – Joy Division.
Ask yourself a question. Tell me your answer (like Marzullo does)
People want questions?
No, people want answers to unanswered questions.
