GIULIA RANCHETTI
Where are you from? Where do you live?
I’m from Florence, Italy, but I’m currently living in Norwich, England.
How old are you?
I’m 20 yo.
How do you pay your bills? Are you working as a professional photographer?
Thankfully I don’t have too many bills to pay as I am still a student living at home; I would love to be able to make a living out of my artwork one day, but I am more interested in curating.
What cameras do you use?
I’m in love with my Fuji Rangefinder GM670, it’s the best camera I’ve ever set eyes on. On the rare occasions that I use digital I use a Nikon D700. Film is the way forward!
Any photographer or artist inspiring you?
I could name thousands, but Rineke Dijkstra and Matthew Stone are the two that I am most interested in lately.
Any artist that challenges photography is an artist I am interested in.
What/who do you enjoy to shoot the most?
It depends what mood I am in, however I always love photographing my grandmother’s house in Florence. It’s a very old villa that has lots of history, I never get bored shooting it.
Do you believe in god?
No, not at all. I am an atheist.
What do you drink on a night out?
Not that I am much of a drinker anymore, but a pint of Amstel or Moretti would be ideal, if not I’ll settle for a Fosters.
Do you like dancing?
No I don’t like it, but if I’m in a club I’ll make the effort to bop about for a while.
What’s your favorite first name?
Michele, the name of my grandfather and my little brother. Lucy is also one of my favourites because of the amazing actress Lucille Ball.

Finding a great piece of second hand clothing for less than 10 pounds is what I’m addicted to! 90% of my clothing comes from second hand shops, I like buying garments that have history.

Frasier and Seinfeld, they never get old.
Recommend us a book.
The Story of Art by Gombrich: whether you’re interested in art or not it’s still an amazing book.
What’s the country of your dreams?
Finland, I went there last year on vacation with my boyfriend and I fell in love with it.
Have you ever been to Iceland?
No, but it’s at the top of my list of countries to visit! Northern Europe really appeals to me.
What song would you choose for a slideshow of your work?
Paan Man Boogie by Kitty, Daisy and Lewis.
Ask yourself a question. Tell me your answer (like Marzullo does)

-Homemade creme caramel. I couldn’t be more excited!
