FRANCESCO PALU’
Where are you from? Where do you live?
I’m from Parma, but now I live in Milan because I’m graduating at Politecnico di Milano (Architecture).
How old are you?
I’m 24.
How do you pay your bills? Are you working as a professional photographer?
Unfortunately I don’t work as a photographer, but I’m trying to find a way to publish my works.I pay my bills working as lifeguard in a swimming pool but I have to admit that I get some money from my parents: life in Milan is really expensive, you know.
What cameras do you use?
I use only analog cameras: a Yashica fx-3, a Nikon f, a Start 6×6, a Nettar 6×6.
Any photographer or artist inspiring you?
I think that Ansel Adams’s work is an icon.
What/who do you enjoy to shoot the most?
I prefer to shoot the geometric shape of nature, to crystallize one moment and observe it like a dead butterfly in my hands, with no movement. I like also if someone is captured in my shots, so I can emphasize the instant shortness.
Do you believe in god?
I believe in a cosmic order, that keeps us connected to earth. All religions are created to dominate the human herd, to divert the attention from our problems, wishing that a god would solve them for us, making us act like a child with his parents.
In these days we can see clearly what kind of dirt religions are creating; I refer in particular to the Vatican, a lobby of bankers full of money.
I’m not a pure materialistic, I’m sure that we have a particular relationship with nature but I can find my way without the belief that someone imposes to me.
What do you drink on a night out?
My favourite drink is beer-gin, a glorious mix.
Do you like dancing?
I like dancing….when I’m perfectly drunk.
What’s your favorite first name?
Pietro.
Are you a fashion addicted?
I’m not a fashion addicted, I wear what I feel to wear.
What’s your favorite tv series?
I don’t like too much TV-series, but if I have to choose: Miami Vice.
Recommend us a book.
“La Nausea” by Jean Paul Sartre.
What’s the country of your dreams?
Alaska.
Have you ever been to Iceland?
No, but if someone will send me there I’ll be grateful.
What song would you choose for a slideshow of your work?
“Blister in the sun” by Violent Femmes.
Ask yourself a question. Tell me your answer (like Marzullo does)
Do you believe in future?
The future believes in me.
