FILIPPO BRANCOLI PANTERA
Where are you from? Where do you live?
I am from Lucca, Tuscany. I’m living here after some years spent in various places.
How old are you?
33.
How do you pay your bills? Are you working as a professional photographer?
I am not sure the two questions above are linked… anyway yes, I pay the bills with my photography, but it’s not so easy.
What cameras do you use?
A lot of different cameras, it depends on the job I have to do. Basically it works in this way: 4×5 if I shoot personal project as landscape or portrait, digital canon if i shoot commercial or editorial assignment. I sometimes use medium format as mamiya and fuji, compact 35 mm like contax, well…the iPhone too. So, if it works as a camera, it’s a camera, no matter what, there’s always a way to get the right picture.
Any photographer or artist inspiring you?
Many: photographers, painters, or visual artists also. The most famous range from Peter Brueghel to Massimo Vitali, there are a lot in the middle.
What/who do you enjoy to shoot the most?
Now I think shooting landscape it’s my biggest pleasure. No one talk, no bullshit, no distraction, it’s kinda perfect from many point of view. On the other side, it’s a bit boring and frustrating traveling and going in remote places by myself, but that’s how it works, no complain.
Do you believe in god?
I definitely don’t, but why should I?
What do you drink on a night out?
Beer, beer and beer.
Do you like dancing?
After many beers.
What’s your favorite first name?
My last one.
Are you a fashion addicted?
Not at all: black leather jacket, jeans, white t-shirt, easy.
What’s your favorite tv series?
The sopranos, even though I think the last hbo would make me crazy about it, the Game of Thrones. And, speaking about photography, it’s really well done.
Recommend us a book.
I’ll say Q by Luther Blissett, it’s a great book with many things inside.
What’s the country of your dreams?
There’s not one, a country it’s a country, it won’t make you happier. I think that a bit of germany, plus some fantasy from italy, a touch of american dream, a couple of points from middle east and some sushi from japan would create a really nice country.
Have you ever been to Iceland?
No, I don’t think I will, it’s kind of too cold for me, I prefer other places.
What song would you choose for a slideshow of your work?
It would change many times, depending on the work and depending to my mood too. Could be anything. But could also be nothing, silence could be even more sometimes.
Ask yourself a question. Tell me your answer (like Marzullo does)
If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be?
A photographer.
