CLAUDIA MORONI
Where are you from? Where do you live?
I’m from Rome, but I currently live in London, UK.
How old are you?
I’m 25 years old, almost 26 and already freaking out about being old.
How do you pay your bills? Are you working as a professional photographer?
I mainly work as a photographic assistant. I’ve recently started taking photographic commissions every once in a while, but at the moment most of my income comes from assisting.
What cameras do you use?
Too many! I really like old film cameras, especially medium format ones. My main camera is a Zenza Bronica Sq-Ai (the poor man’s Hasselblad), but at the moment I’m not using it as much because a lovely friend of mine lent me a Mamiya RZ 67, and now I want one very badly.
Any photographer or artist inspiring you?
There are many, many photographers and artists that inspire me, and I keep discovering more incredible work every day through flickr, tumblr or looking at magazines and books, so it’s quite hard to name just a few. Diane Arbus and Richard Avedon will never cease to inspire me, while lately I’ve been looking a lot at the work of Yann Faucher and William Hacker.
What/who do you enjoy to shoot the most?
I love shooting people, especially people who are interesting looking and confident in front of the camera, like my friend Sebastian, who is my muse.
Do you believe in god?
Nope, I don’t. Sometimes I wish I did.
What do you drink on a night out?
Long Island Iced Tea, because it’s the only cocktail mixed with lots of different spirits that I actually like, a win-win situation.
Do you like dancing?
It depends, I really like dancing in my living room, but I’m a terrible dancer (and well aware of it), so in a club I don’t enjoy it as much.
What’s your favorite first name?
Viola or Alice.
Are you a fashion addicted?
Not at all, most of my clothes come from charity shops (second hand shops run by charitable organizations, unfortunately they don’t exist in Italy).
What’s your favorite tv series?
I watch a lot of shameful trash tv series that I’m not going to name, so let’s say The Genius Of Photography (BBC series about, well, photography).
Recommend us a book.
Choke by Chuck Palahniuk.
What’s the country of your dreams?
Cloud cuckoo land, that, incidentally, it’s also where I spend most of my time.
Have you ever been to Iceland?
No, but I wish I did, it must be magnificent up there.
What song would you choose for a slideshow of your work?
Oh no, tough question! Most of the music I like would be terrible for a slideshow! Mmmm maybe Daydreaming by Dark Dark Dark? It goes quite well with my personality, but it doesn’t work with all the pictures.
Ask yourself a question. Tell me your answer (like Marzullo does)
ahahah
Q. What would be your super power if you could only choose one?
A. The ability to travel through time and space would be pretty cool.
