ALESSANDRO FURCHINO
Where are you from?
I’m from Turin.
Where do you live?
I moved to Milan 3 years ago.
How old are you?
I’m in my late twenties.
How do you pay your bills? Are you working as a professional photographer?
I’ve been working as a professional photographer for over 3 years.
I actually pay my bills with commercial photography and art direction. I also do graphic design as well, I think it can work in sinergy with photography for most of projects.
This kind of approach enables me to think and work at the project on a whole different level.
What cameras do you use?
I have a lot of cameras, I like to collect them for display only as well: digital and analogic, medium format, reflex and point and shot.
I usually choose the camera depending on the images that I’m looking for.
I constantly carry my Leica M9 with me though.
Any photographer or artist inspiring you?
It changes from time to time.
I love everything about photography but I’m really into art, architecture and design.
I try to let myself be inspired by everything that surrounds me.
I’m currently following Cass Bird and her work and I think that Toni Thorimbert is one of the smartest italian contemporary photographer.
What/who do you enjoy to shoot the most?
I’m all for portrait photography but it’s rather difficult to make a living off of it, so -like I said- commercial photography pays my bills.
Do you believe in god?
Sometimes.
What do you drink on a night out?
Vodka tonic.
Do you like dancing?
No, I’m terrible at it.
What’s your favorite first name?
Alessandro.
Are you a fashion addicted?
I follow fashion both for my own interest and my job.
What’s your favorite tv series?
No doubt about it: Mad Men.
Recommend us a book.
2 if it’s possible:
“l’errore fotografico” by Chéroux
“RFK” by Paul Fusco
What’s the country of your dreams?
Italy.
Have you ever been to Iceland?
No. Maybe one day.
What song would you choose for a slideshow of your work?
Just silence.
Ask yourself a question. Tell me your answer (like Marzullo does)
Done.
Are you satisfied about your photography?
Satisfaction is the death of creativity.
